Best Outdoor Dining in Amelia Island?

The Food Bee Mar 25, 2009 03:32 PM

My friend and I will be staying at the Ritz during Masters week (he lives in Augusta!). We have a reservation at Salt for dinner Friday night, but love to have long lunches in an outdoor setting. We like a good wine list, too. The three places that I have on my list from these boards are Cafe Karibo, Joe's, and Barbara Jean's. I would appreciate comments on the places I mentioned as well as suggestions. Thank you!

Where did you end up eating? I'm headed there in Nov.

The best place is Le Clos. Joes is coasting on reputation and is far from what it once was, although there is a nice outdoor section. BJs is a good breakfast/lunch place, but not a dinner spot to me. Beech Street Grille is very good too, though no outdoor section. Horizons is a small place on A1A with very good lunch and dinner.

The restaurants at the Ritz are way overpriced, but good food (with small portions). The restaurants at the Plantation are not great, not bad. Marina, Brett's, and all the Italian places are just average and are overpriced badly for what you get.
