Thai Basil in Collingswood- very good
If anyone is looking for good Thai in the Collingswood area, I can suggest Thai Basil on Haddon Avenue. It is in the old Water Lily location. Prices are in the low to middle range. The decor is pretty much the same, with some Thai artwork and wallhangings added and Thai music playing. The menu has a good variety, and the thing that has most impressed me is the freshness of the food. The vegetables were all fresh - no frozen anything. I have had the Penang Curry and the Green Curry and was very happy with both, although I preferred the penang. My husband has had some kind of beef dish with cashews (I can't remember the name) that was light and flavorful with good quality beef. The roti bread is delicious- it is similar the the Thousand Layer bread they serve at the Burmese place in Philly's Chinatown. The Tom Ka ( spelling?) soup was also really good. A coconut broth with a nice lemongrass kick. The only thing I would say is that if you decide to do take-out, ask for an extra portion of rice- they are on the small side.
They told me business is ok, and that lunch time has been slow. I would hate for them to have to start skimping on the quality of their ingredients in order to cut costs- so selfishy, I urge everyone to go and check it out!
Thai Basil is excellent! Small, but immaculate. There's another one at the intersection of Springdale Rd and Greentree Rd. in Cherry Hill that's pretty good, too - very reasonable prices. It's called Little Thai Garden. But, I loved the Pad Siew (sp?) at Thai Basil. It was the best I'd had anywhere.

Thai Basil is awesome. Best Thai in the area. Been there more times than I can remember and everything I've had has been delicious. Service has always been top notch. It's never very busy in there - but they do seem to do a pretty steady take out business. If you're in S. Jersey and looking for tasty Thai - this is a must try!

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago. Wasn't all that impressed. Tom Ka soup was salty, the Singapore noodles with beef were good, but again salty and oily. My girlfriend really liked the mixed vegetable and tofu plate, but in general, this is only so-so in my books. Very reasonable pricing however, which will bring me back to give it another shot.
