Tonight I'm going to be attending a concert with some friends and family at Christchurch, Spitalfields.

Afterwards, we hope to go for a reasonable Indian meal, somewhere that allows us to drink, BYOB or otherwise. I don't think I'll convince many of our number to walk as far as New Tayyabs, and given my experiences in the past 6 of us will spend an hour behind the velvet rope queuing. I'd try Mai'da, but again it is slightly too far.

The problem is, searching these forums and trying to specify the area leads to recommendations that only say I shouldn't go to Brick lane. Surely, given my starting point, someone has an actual recommendation that is up to date?

if Christchurch is just off brick lane, Mai"da isn't too far. Max a 10 min walk. But you can't drink in there - it doesn't serve alcohol and there's no BYOB. However the food is the best by a mile in that area of London. Tayyabs is even better but, as you know, a much longer haul.

The Lahore Kebab House (dont let the name put you off!) is pretty good a bit closer to you - the name gives it away a bit in that it is Pakistani. It's BYOB as well.

Go to Gram Bangla on Brick Lane if the alcohol isn't an issue. They would neeeever allow BYOB there. TBH, you're restricted to Tayyabs.

Yeah, it's not far at all. A cab driver would probably laugh if you even asked for a ride from Spitalfields to there.
