Heading to DC next month

I am looking for small family joints. Also looking for a good hot dog. Good Blues bar would be a great find!

Clearly you need to go to Ben's Chili Bowl and try a DC half-smoke. Just make sure you go outside of the typical rush hours (lunch, dinner, late-night). Mid-afternoon snack would be your best bet.

A good place for live blues is the Zoo Bar, on Connecticut Ave., very close to the National Zoo.

Madam's Organ is good too, with live blues most Fridays and Saturdays, but it's not exactly a small family joint.
