AJ's Burgers in New Rochelle had a nice variety of homecooked food and the place is immaculate. I don't know if it's BYOB, you'd have to gove them a call. They have burgers, salads, BBQ and a separate Italian menu, anything you can think of. They just emailed a coupon "buy one entree get one free" good Mon-Thurs. Can't beat that!
If you are up for Japanese food, then I have your spot! Masuki on Halstead Ave in Harrison. Their food is fresh and amazing! They have the sushi and various rolls, but there standouts are the very "typical" Japanese plates. By typical I mean the home cooking that families enjoy in Japan. They have by far the best Japanese curry that my husband or I have ever had - and he's Japanese! The Katsudon is also a must try. They have also just recently opened a small hibachi. We haven't been able to try it out yet (we have a very small child), but as soon as the chance arises we will be there. The owners are wonderful and will treat you like you are royalty. The only thing I'm not sure of is the wine. I know they sell beer and sake, but we've never asked about wine. Give them a call. If they don't have any, ask if you can BYOB. It's a very small, intimate place. There isn't an over abundance of atmosphere if that is what you are looking for, but the food is great, the service wonderful, and the prices are some of the best (for the quality) in all of Westchester. Sushi combination platters are $11.50-$18.50. Rolls are $3.50-$5.00. Traditional Japanese apps are $5.00-$6.50. ALL entrees are $11.50 - repeat....ALL entrees are $11.50. Obento box goes for $9.25-$13.50 or $16.50 with your choice of roll.
I am getting so hungry just going over the menu for this posting. I am lucky enough to live very near this place and it is my go to spot for a great meal.
Masuki - Japenese Delicatessen
109 Halstead Ave (It is caddy-cornered across the street from Gus's)
I think you've stumped me. Once you throw in a bottle of wine, it's hard to come up with somewhere that you can also eat , even light food, for less than $25 a person. Even with an inexpensive bottle - $35 and assuming four people, that's 7.50 or so each right there so now you're talking about less than $18 for food, tax and tip? Maybe Cafe Mirage in Port Chester? Salads at Chat 19?
