Does anyone know where I can buy a suribachi-you know, the Japanese mortar/pestle (although this has a separate name) that's ceramic and grooved on the inside?

How about online. Google has amazed me over the years and I have more than once encouraged others to delve into it's hidden and mystical potential.

Bump - can anyone point me in the direction of any specific stores in Toronto? If possible I want to avoid buying online. I'd much rather be able to see and examine them before I buy one.

I'm not an expert on either suribachis or Toronto, but don't you have a small Japanese community there? Called J-Town or something close to that? I'd research to find if there are any markets or general goods stores around there specializing in Japanese ingredients or cooking equipment.
