San Diego (south Bay area) dinning suggestions

I'll be visiting family in the South Bay (Otay Mesa, Imperial Beach, Palm City area) and want to take my parents out to dinner for their 45th wedding anniversary. I grew up in the area and have my favorite taco shops but no sit down Chow worthy place. I was hoping to take them to someplace new and delicious but will settle for just delicious.

When they visit me in Seattle I take them out for sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, dim sum and of course fresh seafood so they love just about anything. My question is; are they any good dinner places in the South Bay that are worth checking out? Will travel for good food but prefer to stay south of the Coronado Bay Bridge, their preference not mine. Thanks in advance.

  1. Restaurante Romesco has gotten some great writeups on the board and is in Bonita. If you do a search for it the threads pop up.

I've heard great things about Romesco too. Seems to fit the bill of what you're looking for.

Restaurante Romesco looks perfect and if they don't want to go I'll be sure to check it out before I leave town. Thanks!

        1. Their is a newish Brigantine in Bonita.

          1. Japanese - Restaurant Meijo in Imperial Beach. Not fancy or a destination place, but it is a great neighborhood joint with consistently good food - sushi and cooked items. They have been our go-to place for almost ten years we we return from the U.S. to our home in Baja.

Highly recommended: Soft shell crab appetizer or roll, scallop roll, nigiri assortment and just about everything on the menu,

            Meijo Restaurant
            600 Palm Ave., Ste/ 300
            Imperial Beach

P.S. If you go, ask for Mindy and tell her that her friends from Baja with the VERY big dogs say hello.
