Mohegan Restaurant

My husband and I are going to a show at Mohegan. What is your favorite restaurant at the casino? Would prefer a sit down meal - no buffet/cafeteria style. What's your vote?

  1. At Mohegan, eating depends on your budget. If it's unlimited, I say go for Michael Jordan's steakhouse. Other nice sit-down options are Todd English's Tuscany, Jasper White's Summer Shack (a bit casual, but great food), and the "always-a-party" Margaritaville.

    1. We like SolToro Tequila Grill:

We've had many a meal at Big Bubba's BBQ, too. I'm a fool for their cornbread. Sometimes, I pick up just the cornbread to take home.

      1. I've eaten at Tuscany and Big Bubba's (and Summer Shack in the city) and think the BBQ is the better choice.

        1. My personal faves:

          Michael Jordan's

          1. We have had dinner at Bubba's and Jasper White's Summer Shack and much prefer the Summer Shack. Both restaurants are casual, sit-down, good service, and lengthy menus.

Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville is there also but we have not yet been.

I personally like MJ sports cafe. It has similar menu items as MJ steakhouse but is less expensive and more casual. The garlic bread and lobster mashed potatoes are good hits! It is obviously a very sports oriented enviornment.

            2. There are loads of posts on Mohegan. A quick board search should bring up many recommendations.

              1. My favorite is Starbucks. :D

I just wanted to let you know that if you are planning on eating there during a "show" day.. be prepared to make a night/day of it. LOL It's crazy when shows are going on. After the shows, almost EVERYONE heads upstairs and there's a line just to get on the escalators to the restaurants.

                1. Thank you all for the advice. We had narrowed it down to Sol Toro and MJs Sports Cafe, but I think we'd decided to opt for the Sports Cafe. Any "must haves" at the Sports Cafe?

They have a good cheese dip with tortilla chips. The chili isn't bad, either. But we haven't been in awhile...it's a neat place with the fabric screen TVs, but it can get really noisy.

If I may, I have another suggestion for you. Birches, in the older part of the casino, is our go-to. We live about 15 min. from Mohegan and we'll go to Birches over most other restaurants, especially if we're there for a show. They have a great selection, and it's hardly ever packed. I think it gets looked over because it's casino-owned. And I second the comment from no0b - make sure you go early. Park in the very first garage and take the shuttle over!

The LOBSTER CLUB is an absolute must. I get it everytime I'm @ Mohegan. Even get one to go to bring home.

I am also a huge fan of the MJ's lobster club, as well as the garlic bread w/Maytag fondue appetizer. I loathe Tuscany - for the price they charge the food is very hit or miss.

                    2. You have to get the GoGo bread, freaking unreal
