Live Crawfish in Virginia/Richmond/anywhere?

I'm trying to find a source for live crawfish in the Richmond area, though i'd be willing to drive. I know I can get them online, but it's pricey, and I would like to have boils at least semi-regularly.

  1. Give the guys at Yellow Umbrella on Patterson Ave a call. They are really nice to work with. They are not the cheapest, but their seafood is delicious.

yeah, i had tried them. special order at $6.50/#, which is more expensive then just ordering it on the internet and having it shipped. for comparison, it's usually around $1-1.50/# in new orleans. sigh.

Yikes, that is quite pricey! Maybe ask one of the owners and/or chefs of a favorite restaurant with good seafood. They often have a good hook-up.

Here's a link from the VDACS that may help: Looks like there is a Crawfish farm if you are okay with farm raised.

    2. Does anyone have any experience with having them delivered and maybe it would be cheaper if some of us transplants just did a party and threw some money together. SE Texas transplant. I can throw a rock and hit louisiana from my home town.

I have a boiler and a big ol pot with strainer.
