Sunday night specials?

BlueTrain84 Mar 23, 2009 09:30 AM

Hi all,

I searched the archives and didn't see anything specific so I thought I would ask around: which restaurants in Boston are running Sunday evening specials? I know Sage was doing a prix fixe a little while back and that Grotto does a prix fixe all of the time, but hopefully there are other places?

Thanks for your input!

The mooo special still seems like it's valid..but I've not been yet.

Probably not what you're looking for, BlueTrain, but any sushi lovers who find themselves around Harvard Square on Sunday night might want to hit Cafe Sushi, which has $1 nigiri. It's not the kind of place that justifies a major road trip, but the fish is really, really good.

Sunday Suppers at Rocca...I'm annoyed I missed last weeks; soft-shell crab sandwiches....
Two courses and a sweet for $22.

Craigie on Main does their Chef's Whim on Sundays ($39.99 for four course and $54.99 for six course) after 9 PM. They also offer their three course prix-fixe menu for $38 after 9 PM as well.

Rialto's been having a Sunday evening lamb-roast special ($20) for a little while now: http://www.rialto-restaurant.com/news...

I was there last night and a friend who ordered the lamb *raved* about it. I'm not even a big lamb eater but I had a taste and have to agree that it was wonderful.

                See this thread:

                And this thread:

I can't personally vouch for any of these, but I like this handy listing of specials and events by day:

Mooo has a $35 fixe price menu on Sunday and Monday nights. Last night my choices were mixed greens with cabernet vinegrette, NY strip with marrow butter, asparagus with hollandaise and the dessert of the night, brownie sundae. These were all served the same as on their regular dinner menu. Half went home, the portions were very generous.

Sunday @ Rendezvous is great bang for the buck, w/good wine specials as well. And the meatballs w/orecchiette rocks (and I believe they're making it only on Sundays now).

P.S. Anyone know whether those meatballs are cooked sous-vide? They're amazingly tender and cooked to almost suspicious perfection every time.

Scampo does a 3 course dinner on Sundays (salad, short rib & mashed, spumoni) for $29. Not a huge portion of short rib but adequate.

We went last night and they have since switched to veal parm and spaghetti. It was amazing. A small piece of perfectly cooked veal with spaghetti pomodoro. Wish that they offered it every day. Amazing.
