Stella! or Brigtsens

Thanks all for the feedback...We are discussing Stella! vs Brightsens based on the feedback we received. Both score 28 food at Zagat. Which should we do?

  1. My vote would be for Stella!

    1. What kind of food are you looking for? Nouveau, fusiony Stella, or upscale Louisiana Brigtsen's? They're at different ends of the food spectrum. Overall, my tastes lean toward Brigtsen's, but I had an excellent meal last sunday night at Stella (the venison). They're both very good restaurants though.

      1. I liked Brigtsens but I was blown away by Stella.

        1. Cannot go wrong with either (my 2 favorites in NOLA), just depends on what you are looking for. Brigtsen's is absolutely delicious, simple, honest regional food, done upscale. Stella will seriously challenge your tastebuds with unique and forward thinking presentations and combinations of flavors.

          1. If I had to do only one, it would be Brigtsen's. This does not cast any sort of poor light on Stella!, as we enjoyed it completely. Still, if I only had one restaurant in NOLA, it would be Brigtsen's. All of the other excellent restaurants would just have to wait, until next trip.

I do agree with N.O. Food, about the differences. Still, for just the food, I would make a reservation at Brigtsen's.

            1. Brigtsen's. Frank is making a crawfish and corn mache choux that is about as good as it gets. Jfood just returned from three days in NOLA and is busy writing his comments while trying to digest a big old T-Bone from Bob's in Dallas. Extra lipitor please.

As always, looking forward to your comments. Now, you do not need to go into too much detail on the 72oz, or whatever it is now, T-bone. Have not been to Bob's in Dallas, but would assume that it is similar to the Big Texan's giant beef portion in Amarillo, TX.

                1. re: Bill Hunt

Wrong, Bill. Bob's is an upscale steak Emporium. More like Ruth's Chris or Morton's.

Actually the steak was excellent, waaaaaaaaay better than those other places

Thank you for the clarification. I must have read more into the post, than I should have. Must be the Shiraz?
