of course I prefer to make my own but occasionally a can of soup is just the ticket until....

I bought a can of Campbell's Select Harvest Broccoli Cheese soup.

totally yuk.

lumps of raw potatoes, ghastly taste and texture, it tasted of raw potatoes in slimy sauce. I cannot describe it and the smell was awful too.

Anyone tried any of the other flavours?

Yeah. I've tried most of them but not the Broccoli. I like them actually. There's a bunch in my kitchen cabinet.

Sure, it's canned soup, but they have a clean taste and no junk in the ingrediants and they are not just all salt or msg like most soups. The lack of salt seems to turn some people off because they have to actually taste soup and not just the usual brine.

They 'cream' soups are less successful than others. THe clam chowder and some crab thing I didn't like. However, I like the chicken soups and the split pea I like a lot. The onion soup was ok. The veggie soups are ok, if not exciting. I like the barley based ones.

There's a long thread somewhere on Chowhound about it and a SuperTaster Chow article. However, with search the way it is, I'm not up to the adventure of finding those links.

Mexican style chicken tortilla is pretty good. I've tried a whole bunch of them and they all taste fine. I love cheese but cheese and soup together never seemed to be a good idea to me.

OMG! I could not agree with you more. There is just something so incredibly "off" with those soups. The chicken stock taste artificial, and the soup is "canny". I've had about 3 different chicken-based soups.Perhaps I should try to split pea based on the opinion above.
Overall, not my "go to" canned soup when the mood hits.
