Red Bar Brasserie, Southampton, NY?

MMRuth Mar 20, 2009 05:14 PM

So, this time we are actually heading back out to Southampton, reservations and all. I'm having real problems with the search function since the changes, so my apologies in advance if there is already a thread on this place somewhere. Anyway, has anyone been to the Red Bar Brasserie in Southampton, and if, so, how is it? Any other thoughts for a not over the top dinner? We went to Le Chef years ago, and it just seemed a bit dated.

We plan to have a light lunch in Sag Harbor on Saturday, then dinner in Southampton. We're staying at the Southampton Inn - not sure if the restaurant there (Oso?) is worth checking out? Going to Silver's for lunch on Sunday because, well, I just like going there and enjoy the food.

Thank you - have a great weekend.

Redbar is fine. I happen to like Almond on Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton a lot better - nice bar, great atmosphere, not too expensive and I always have a great time there - although Friday's can be a bit crazy. Mussels are outstanding

Cannot say anything good about Almond. RedBar is fine, can be a little noisy, but I think on a Sunday this time of year, that shouldn't be a problem. I would also recommend The Plaza Cafe, which has wonderful fish, also very close to your hotel.
