Cool Cafe's Cobb

Took my mom to the Cantor museum and gardens today, and it was perfect weather to take a seat outside at the Cool Cafe for a light lunch. We shared a Cobb salad, $14, shown here.

Nice honey-mustard vinaigrette though I had to ask for more on the side, and loved the two thick slices of bacon. Quite generous with the Pt Reyes blue cheese. Pastured chicken is described as a mix of white and dark meat, but this was nearly all moist and tasty breast meat. Those beet-dyed purple eggs were overcooked and the promised avocado was AWOL.

I think $14 is too much for a lunch salad, especially their somewhat anemic one. Also, at all three of Jesse Cool's restaurants I have eaten at, I have been served gritty lettuce. I would get a sandwich instead.

What color was the ring on the yolk, green-gray ferrous sulfide and beet purple equals what?

Would you believe that I paid attention to this, it's actually a good trick to dye the eggs. Not only adding a color punch to the visuals, but colors over the grayish rim with a pink cast. But the rubbery textured whites and hard yolks tell the real story.

I should mention that the Arnold Palmer (1/2 ice tea, 1/2 pink lemonade) was excellent. And presented prettily with pink on the bottom and the ice tea floated on the upper half.
