In Manhattan, where to dine?
Looking for best Italian in Little Italy on Wednesday, 3/26, and where to eat before 8 p.m. show on Broadway 3/27.
Just the wife and me. Suggestions?

If not Babbo, then Lupa. Other folks on this board will recommend other upscale places I haven't been to, such as Scarpetta and Convivio. I'll note that Lupa is considerably cheaper than any of the others, but at least based on my meal there, I think Babbo is also a very good value, though far from cheap. You aren't likely to find classic Italian-American/Neapolitan-style stuffed cannelloni at any of these places, though. Look through some menus and see what you think:

If you are looking for "classic" Little Italy, I would recommend Angelo's. It's my favorite in the area. If you just want to be in that area, try Peasant for Italian.
I agree with Umberto's for baked clams or calamari.

Try Becco (becconyc.com) on W46th St in the Theater District. It's one of my faves of all time. Modern Italian food with an amazing $25/bottle wine list. The place is VERY busy, so I usually walk in and head straight for the wine bar to dine and chat with the friendly bartenders.

Sure, I'm a fellow Texas native, myself. Here's some ideas (please use www.menupages.com for specific details):
44 & X - American cuisine
Bar Americain - Regional American
Kellari Taverna - Greek
Landmarc (at Time Warner Center) - American
Nougatine - French
