fish meuniere in vancouver?

long time lurker, first time poster here.

my wife has one request for her birthday: to eat meuniere made by someone other than me. the only place i know of that serves it regularly here in vancouver is bistro pastis, and they are all booked up on her b-day. anyone able to recommend any alternate options? we're in kits, but i'm willing to go where the fish takes me. sole, trout, whatever, we're game.

thanks in advance.

  1. A very quick Google nets (pardon the pun) meuniere (why can't I do accents on CH?) options at Yuji's (!) on 4th, Pied A Terre on Cambie, Shore Club downtown (though this version appears to be mussels), Barefoot Kitchen on Davie (another Japa-fusion place, methinks), and an old reference to petrale sole done this way at Bistro Bistrot on 4th, though it is not mentioned on the current menu (I may call them because petrale sole is one of my favourite fish). Needless to say I haven't tried any of these but at least you have a few leads now and perhaps some more informed respondents will chime in. Good luck and have a great celebration wherever you end up.

I'd be very happy to go to Pied a Terre for my birthday. They seem to do most of the bistro classics and we've liked what we've had there.
Admitedly I haven't been to Grayelf's other finds.
