Breakfast during the week in Cambridge?
Hi folks - need some help identifying your favorite places for midweek breakfast in Cambridge or Somerville, besides Henrietta's Table or Sofra.
Thanks!

S&S is our standby. Everyone can get something they want no matter what time of day it is and while they are def. a get in and get out experience on the weekends, midweek usually is much better. If you are just looking for eggs and homefries then they are average - it is their specialty items and deli stuff that make them standout.

All good suggestions so far. I'll also throw in Uncommon Grounds just over the line on Mt. Auburn in Watertown. Fresh, well-prepared, nice variety and reasonably priced. I like their scrambles with add-ins, especially the bacon and provolone. Coffee and muffins/quick breads are decent also.

The breakfast capitol of Boston is Ball Square in Somerville, near Tufts. There are several restaurants there that serve great breakfasts all week long. While they are jammed on the weekends, during the week space is available without delay. My favorite is Ball Square Cafe; lots of folks like its neighbor Soundbites. The owners of these establishments have been engaged in a feud for some time and it makes for local entertainment. The food is good and plentiful.

re: jajjguy
I discovered Renee's this year and I love it for breakfast (only really beat out by two Provincetown places: Cafe Heaven and Devin's and Zaftigs in Brookline and maybe Delux in Watertown). Renee's has great egg dishes (including many specials each day). Very hearty portions. I have only been a few times but as I remember they are closed one weekday and only take cash. It is very homemade-ish...and the service can have just a tad of the hard edge of old Somerville...but I do think the food is better than most weekday places around here.
Is Sofra open on weekdays? I haven't been yet....

While both were dissed to some extent in the other thread, I'd recommend Zoe's (between Harvard Sq. and Central Sq.) or S&S Diner (Inman Sq.) These are my faves, even if nobody else agrees!
I've eaten at Zoe's often and none of the vague gripes in the other thread resonate with me. The food has always been great (for a diner), it has good ambiance, is clean, and the service is usually at least decent. The prices are also reasonable for what you get. It can be mobbed on a weekend morning when the Harvard students are in town but I don't imagine you'd have trouble midweek.
I have less experience with S&S, but really enjoyed the breakfast I had there once. They have an excellent array of breakfast options. My experience there was midweek and the place was pretty empty.
Happy eating!
