spago - anyone been recently?
i haven't been in a few years and am going back tonight/any recent highlights or menu tips most appreciated. thank you hounds!
jesse, I just picked up on your older post, I have not been to Spago in 10-12 years, and wondered the same thing! So---- how was it???? Any recs???
Was there last week for lunch and had the 5 course tasting menu. I highly recommend going the tasting menu route as I have found that this is where Spago shines.
The amuses were delicious especially their tuna tartare in a sesame cone.
Favorite savory dish was toro and yellowtail sashimi.
Fave sweet/dessert was gingersnap gelato.
If you go to Spago the tasting menu is the only way to go, IMO. If you order a la carte most dishes we tried are overpriced for what you get.
