*Quiet* place for drinks in Santa Monica?

katydid13 Mar 17, 2009 06:27 PM

I have to tape-record an interview with someone in Santa Monica tomorrow (Wednesday) night, and I know he'll want to do it over drinks. I've never done any drinking in that area and would love any recommendations for good places that aren't crazy with ambient noise, esp. anything in the vicinity of 3rd and Washington. Thanks!

Probably any of the hotel bars in the area should suit you fine. There's the Fairmont Miramar, Shutters on the Beach, The Viceroy and Lowes. Any of them should work fine.

Also, you could go to Ocean Seafood, which has a large bar area with the good possibility of a quiet corner for your purpose.

hotel bars are usually a good bet.

ETA: looks like Bob & i replied at the same time. one addition to his list: Casa del Mar. the bar area is always quiet there.

        Hidden or Casa or Shutters.

There is no quieter place than Pacific Dining Car. Dead quiet usually.

            i concur with frommtron.
i've never been to PDC in santa monica when it wasn't quiet in the bar area.
they do have a tv there, though.

Try Salute Wine Bar on Main Street. I've only been once, but it was nice and quiet when I was there. Also, they have a quality selection of wines and an automated setup, which makes sampling easy.

Thanks, everyone. I wouldn't have thought of any of these!
