Family wineries of CA tasting.

Anybody go to the family wineries of California tasting event in Del Mar this past weekend? There were about 200+ wineries pouring, and all had more than one selection. I really did enjoy the wines and the tastings but there were lots of problems with the event. I think it was way too crowded for the event space. It probably should have been in the O'brien building instead of the Wyland building. The aisles were too narrow and when groups of 5 tasters moved in a pack, they really blocked the aisles. It was also really, really warm in the bulding, which does not make for a good tasting. It also seemed like there was some confusion at the will call counter. Maybe they could of mailed out the tickets. I also would of happily paid more for some small nibblies. It looked like a few people had too many tastes on empty stomachs. All in all it was interesting, I tasted wines from wineries I had never been too, let alone heard of. I also tasted some new varitals for the first time. I am glad they had it down in San Diego, This kinda of thing does not seem to make it down here, but they just need to tweak it a bit.

Not sure if you saw, but there were plenty of cheese and crackers scattered around the place. I'm really glad they provided some snacks and plenty/plenty of water!

But yeah it got to be a real packed house once they let the public in. The trade tasting was much easier =)

I thought as much and I was trying to figure out how I could sneak in as a trade person to no avail. I saw people scarfing the cheese and crackers on the sides like that had been their only meal for days. Note to them you can get that cheese in bulk at you local costco or smart and final.
