Zeppole in Manhattan

I need to find several places in Manhattan to get real Zeppole at an eatery not out of a truck at a festival. Any great ideas?

  1. If you can wait, the Artichoke guys are supposedly opening Led Zeppole - but with them, who knows....

    1. A couple pizza places near Macy's/Penn used to make them fresh around the end of the day. It's been a while, and this might not be formal enough for you either, but the open air pizza shop on 5th and like 32nd was doing it, and before that, one of the greasy pizza by the slice places (with seating) on the same block as Jack's World was frying them up fresh during weekdays, and selling them to commuters. They were a bargain, something like 8 for a buck or two (I forget), and they would drop them in a paper bag filled with powder sugar. Best I've had in the city. I don't know if they're still selling these but it was a regular thing for a long time.

        1. Carmine 28 makes zeppole neopolitan-smaller round fried dough balls than what I usually get on the street served in an ice cream sundae glass with powdered sugar. When my daughter gets a zeppole craving, I can't always find a street fair to satisfy it.

          1. They are on the dessert menu at Bar Stuzzichini. The Led Zeppole place sounds interesting...can't wait to try it out!
