Don Pepe's Queens

Is Don Pepe - Queens/Ozone Park - Queens, still as good as it once was and is it still as crowed as it used to be?

In regards to the food, yes I still think it is great if you order right. Baked clams, spaghetti w/clam sauce, veal Don Peppe, and Broccoli Rabe. And yes, it still gets very crowded.

I agree with Sushiman. I will be at Don Peppe tomorrow night enjoying the best baked clams on the planet.

Just got home from Don Peppe....OUTSTANDING!!! Salad, baked clams, spaghetti with the pink clam sauce. That was the first time I tried the pink sauce, very similiar to the white sauce. Eggplant rollatini, shrimp with marinara, a side of brocolli rabe, and to finish it off, some tortoni. How can you go wrong?

Thinking about it, please let me know who has better baked clams. I would love to try em out.

Are they pickled? Cuz last time I had seafood there it was old old old!

I agree, there are "better" places, but Don Peppe is the place for great baked clams, spaghetti w/ clam sauce, and Veal Don Peppe.

What are "so many better places?" I'm sure I've been, but maybe not.

They won't take ANY credit cards and they ONLY serve 2-3 wine choices one of which is their own home made wine that tastes like mouth wash.
But there are some good dishes to pick from.. You just have to know the right ones.

The house wine served chilled is the way to go.

There are plenty of dishes that are outstanding.

                      Baked Clams
                      Linguini Marichiare Vongole
                      Lobster Fra Diavalo over linguini
                      Shrimp Luciano
                      Shrimp in Red Sauce
                      Stuffed Artichoke
                      Sausages Peppers and Onions
Chicken Scarpariello (with sausages pepper onions and potatos it becomes Chicken Contadina)
                      Veal Don Peppe
                      Chinese Chicken

Off the top of my head.
