East Manor in Elmhurst
Has anyone eaten at this restaurant? I am visiting relatives in the area and this restaurant was mentioned so I am curious. Their website indicates western cuisine but I thought this was a chinese restaurant.

Definitely Chinese. I'm eating there this weekend -- a banquet, actually.

I haven't eaten there in a over a year, but as far as I know, it is a buffet and hot pot place. They have roasted baby suckling pig and peking duck.

It's a cantonese restaurant.
They have a buffet, but you can also order off their menu. I believe there are 2 options for the buffet. One is hot pot only and is cheaper and the other is the regular buffet which includes the hot pot.
The food ranges from decent to pretty good, but we almost always ordered off the menu. We stopped going though because the cleanliness of the place is questionable.

you may need to look over your bill closely. My friend told me that they added some weird surcharges the last time he ate there.

I had a decent meal in Elmhurst Sunday night. We had a huge party (about 24 folks, a mix of Chinese and non-Chinese folks). It suffered from the usual problems with buffets -- some stuff was hanging around for too long. The biggest surprise was one of the best scallion pancakes I've ever had -- they were made one at a time, and often wasn't available much of the time. The most popular dishes seemed to be the fried lobste (partial tails) and mixed seafood in XO sauce). the latter was marred by extremely mushy crabs, but the sauce true restaurant quality. There was a surprisingly large selection of sushi and American dishes. I was a little surprised there weren't more noodle options (mei fun was about it).
Service was unusually good for these kinds of places. Plates were emptied with alacrity and drinks were replenished. The public areas were immaculate.
