Sushi Nini-Round Rock

Anyone tried it yet?

Just drove by and thought about going for lunch tomorrow.

  1. I went a few days after it opened and wasn't very impressed. Apparently they're trying to be the Hooters of sushi, so it's mediocre food and scantily clad waitresses (most of whom had too strong a combination of pale, skinny and ink for that outfit or atmosphere). Add the overpowering stench of fresh paint to the mix and it was one of the most memorable sushi experiences of my life - ironically.

      How scary, Hooter's sushi?
      Parish the thought!

        Ja srsly.

I've been sticking to Origami (and occasionally Beluga) since that experience.

If that scares you, try looking up the term nyotaimori on wikipedia or the google. :)

      2. Tried it for lunch today and was pleased. Great lunch specials with both sushi and sashimi bento boxes. They are running a HH until March 31st from 30-close with 50% off sushi, sashimi, rolls and select special rolls. Also $2 sake, beers, etc.

several large tvs and prompt service.

I know it's spring break, but I was happy with my experience.

I got the avocado bomb(seemed like their version of Beluga's Ahi Tower). It's a baked half avocado topped with the spicy mayo, krab and tobiko, garnished with daikon & carrot ribbons. Tasty, but really hard to eat since you have to scrape the avocado from the peel.

Then the blue moonlight roll which had spicy tuna, tuna, shrimp tempura and the mayo.
Also tried 2 pieces of Escolar, (which they call binnaga-new to me) had a strange almost ponzu sauce on it.
Followed with a glass of Pinot Grigio
        Overall not bad for lunch
        Respectful unobtrusive service.

I plan to go back with a group and try more of their rolls and take advantage of the sake specials!

        1. We tried them about 3 weeks ago. I've not had sushi like it since I lived in CA. I'm wondering if they didn't have a slow start after opening. I had what I think was called the Fire Dragon Roll. It was fantastic.

          A total do-over for us.

I'm a regular there now; had lunch there today in fact. I love their Albacore nigiri & sushimi and most of their rolls. They do a great HH that really makes it worth it.
If they would get unfiltered sake I wouldn't need to go to other places. Check it out if you're a sushi fan.
