A la Carte @ Le Cirque, Alex, Picasso?

The menus posted for said venues are for tasting and prix fixe. Has anyone had any success getting a la carte options at these venues, or for that matter at Joel Robuchon, Guy Savoy, Bradley Ogden, etc.?

I will always do a tasting menu, basic or chef's, but occasionally there are items mentioned or offered that I would also like to try and I was wondering if anyone has been able to order these -- in addition to -- the items on the degustation? Also, how receptive are these places to substitutions of one menu item for another if you prefer something else?

  1. You should have success at at least several of these places.

    The menu for Bradley Ogden includes a la carte choices.

    The last time I checked, so did the menu for Guy Savoy. When I ate there, I was told that they would gladly substitute items on the tasting menu.

    When I had the tasting menu at Alex, I was also told that substitutions were possible.

    Joel Robuchon used to offer a la carte meals, although that menu was only offered upon request. I don't know if this is still true. However, when I ate there, the party next to me made substitutions without any difficulty.
