Vegetable seed orders at record levels
Fedco (a big Northeastern seed company) said in a 2/15 newsletter that their orders were up 28% so far, with the biggest rise in group orders (of home growers). They're not the only ones. I hope this means the pool of local vegetables is widening, not that people are shifting from CSAs to homegrown. More: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/a...














I'd heard this anecdotally from a coworker who shops at a farm store. I figured it had to do with the economy, not from any trend toward CSAs or locavorism.
