Wasn't great. It was cute, but I didn't feel like I'd ever return. I'm used to the Melting Pot chain and the teeny candles under the pots vs. sterno or electric heat seemed inadequate. I didn't like the mini-gherkins either, just my opinion about the pickles, though.

Neither La Fondue Bourguignonne nor the Melting Pot chain "light my fire", so to speak... they're both ridiculously expensive for what you get, and in the case of the Melting Pot chain, woefully inconsistent, from place to place and from time to time within a place.

I will give MP credit for having a good basic chocolate -- but start adding stuff in and it just doesn't work.

Fondue is not a genre that's really taken off here in LA -- perhaps too hot for melty fiery cheese?

La Fondue is run by my ex-girlfriend's uncle, so I've eaten there a bunch of times. The fondue is excellent - cheese, wine, and oil - and the atmosphere relaxing. I've heard people bag on it; perhaps they overcooked their chicken.

Eat next door at Max, in a real restaurant, or across the street at Le Petit Bistro, for some real meat, fries, and a stiff drink. Let the waiters wait on you, not you do the work, and then still have to tip. As to the decor, the 70s description is as good as it gets!

No. It's overpriced, the fodune is just so-so. The decor is great -right out of the '70s. If you want great fondue, go to Mssr. Marcel at the LA Farmer's Market and have it for a fraction of the La Fondue price.
