Sunday Night near Radio City Music Hall

rjm Mar 15, 2009 11:59 AM

Hi 'hounders,

I have tickets for a show a RCMH tonight and am looking for a place within walking distance (10 blocks) to meet beforehand for an early dinner around 6:30pm.

Pretty open in terms of cuisine and budget...(ex. indian & chinese)

Any good ideas?

Our Place Shanghai Tea Garden, 141 E. 55th St (btw 3rd & Lexington) - excellent, reasonably price Chineese - great service also.

Chola, 232 E. 58th Street (btw 2 nd & 3rd Ave) - very good Indian restaurant, somewhat upscale.

um, the OP said anything but indian and chinese.

la bonne soupe on 55th 5/6...old school, not very fancy but very sweet bistro

adkeniz 46th 5/6...middle eastern...lotsa great apps, decent mains

iroha. sushi 49 6/7....good basic sushi sashimi'

sapporo japanese, right next to sapporo. cash only, bare bones noodles and dumpings

      maybe a start?

        Akdeniz is closed on Sunday.

La Bonne Soupe is a good choice. Also on that block is Alain Ducasse's casual bistro, Benoit.

Maze, Gordon Ramsay's more casual restaurant in the London Hotel, is on 54th St., b/t 6th & 7th Avs.

        Quality Meats is on 58th St., b/t 5th & 6th Avs.

Akdeniz is also Turkish, quite different from Middle Eastern.

"ex. indian & chinese" could be "example: indian & chinese." Abbreviations can be dangerous, people, use with caution.
