Latin American cafeteria-type food

Down in Central/South America, there's always a "cafeteria" on every corner where they serve food from steam tables for, say, $2 a mixed plate.

Do we have anything like that in Toronto? I don't even care if it's $10 -- I'm looking for the comfort food: chicken stews, fried chicken, rice, plantain, etc. I have no idea what any of the dishes are except that they're hearty and taste ridiculously good.

    I certainly hope there are several replies to your thread. Would love to try some affordable Latin American places at affordable prices with this type of cuisine. ;)
