Help!

I don't know what happened but my cookies are quite soft when I got it out from the oven, I followed the recipe completely and preheated the oven before baking but still turned out to be soft. I don't know what should I do to make it right. Please help.

In the future, you might want to my your headline something more descriptive then "Help!" Letting people know what kind of help you're looking for from the beginning will get your better responses.

Manraysky makes a good point. I noticed in your profile, DW, that most of your posts' topic lines are very non-specific. For example, "About Spice" was your question as to whether allspice and 5-spice are the same thing. A better line would have been "Are allspice and 5-spice the same?" Not everyone on CH has time to read every post. I usually skip over the vaguely-titled ones unless they are odd enough to make me curious.

        Not enough information!

What kind of cookies? Not all cookies are crispy right out of the oven. Or ever! It depends on the kind of cookie and the specific recipe.

Is your oven at the correct temperature (not the dial, the oven thermometer).

DO NOT freeze dough before using it; simply let it cook for a half hour in the refrigerator

Im making a chocolate chip cookie. I followed the recipe bit by bit but it turned out to be quite soft right out of the oven. I waited for it to cool down but its still soft. Im trying to put it in a ref for a couple of hours then bake it againe hoping it would be a little bit crispier.

What happens if let say the butter is more than needed on the recipe?

DW - do you think you added too much butter? More butter would make the cookies softer than expected. If so, bake them on a lower tempurature for a longer time - you'll get cookies that a bit flat but they will be crisp.

Did you use all the ingredients and blend the dry and the wet ingredients by themselves before adding them together? Baking soda/powder and salt need to be thoroughly blended to get a rise and let the moisture escape.

Good luck and, if these don't work, try again!

Are they browned? If so, just place them on a rack to cool and they will become firmer. If the cookies are still pale, leave them in longer. As a tip, put the batter in the ref to cool before making cookies with it - the dough will be firmer and not spread as much when cooking.

Yes they are, I already cool them but they are still quite soft. I'll try putting them on a ref, should I let it thaw 1st before baking again?
