Ed Mitchell, the well known BBQ Master of The Pit restaurant was filmed by the food network today.
We had responded to a notice on Craigslist calling for audience members dressed for spring time.
Well, the weather disappointed, but Ed shined as always. A bit into the filming I noticed something familiar about the man walking towards the tent, as he put a finger to his lips to hush the audience Ed realized something was up and turned around to find it was a Bobby Flay Throwdown!

It was fascinating to see the behind the scenes mechanism that put a show together. Being tortured for hours with the scent of rival ribs cooking was well worth it once we were digging into the pork goodness. The only thing that could have made it better would have been to extend the throwdown to include banana pudding!

The producer indicated that this should show in May as part of a BBQ feature week. This segment is "Tales From the Pit". Good for you Ed, it is great seeing you get the exposure and recognition you deserve. You couldn't find a nicer fellow to pick a pig with!

They swore us to secrecy! If I spilled the (BBQ'd) beans you wouldn't respect me in the morning...All the food was delicious, just differing approaches.

I will say my SO and I liked Ed's ribs best, but thought Bobby's sauce was kicka$$. Being an Eastern NC style fan I wouldn't usually use sauce on my pork, but Bobby's sauce would be awesome on my BBQ chicken!

Yep, that sounds right! I don't think in words, so I often get close but not exact with my wording. Always appreciate help with the correct phrase! People close to me know it is like a continual game of charades or something in fine tuning my sentences.

Different topic, the folks from The Pit gave each person a nice selection of coupons as a thank you for coming. And the tastings were generous, initially two good sized ribs from each "team" . Slight shades of Hell's Kitchen with the red and blue teams. Today unemployment had it's perks in being free to attend!
