Restaurant Recommendations in Phoenix? Large group, private room, great food

  • 5

Hello,

I've done some searching through the boards for a great, contemporary restaurant recommendation in Phoenix for 25-30 people. Quiessence seemed to get some recommendations in one thread and looked perfect, but is closed on Mondays unfortunately.

Can anyone recommend a great contemporary, relatively upscale restaurant for a customer dinner? We would prefer a private room option and will probably spend ~$100 per person including alcohol, maybe a bit more.

Thanks!

:)

  1. Check out the private room at Richardson's at www.burningembersphoenix.com. A $500 guarantee gets you the room which seats about 35 people. It offers the regular restaraunt menu, and full access to the wine room, which is located in the dining area.

I don't know if it would be considered "contemporary" since it is New Mexican menu in a fairly high end service style. But it was good enough for the president (Bush) so it might be what you're looking for. We have used it for private parties twice and really enjoyed it.

      1. A handful of options for contemporary restos with private or semi-private dining rooms: Cowboy Ciao in downtown Scottsdale has fantastic, innovative food and the best wine list in the city. Estate House, just across the street from Ciao, serves lovely French-inspired fare. Olive & Ivy does crowd-pleasing Cal-Mediterranean. And Bourbon Steak in north Scottsdale is the best of the chic steak houses to open recently in the Valley (don't miss the truffled fries). Note: These places are in Scottsdale, but still very accessible to central Phoenix.

Just got back from Scottsdale today from a vacation.

We enjoyed Cowboy Ciao for lunch today! Reasonable lunch pricing (our entrees were $13)..pan fried mushrooms w/ polenta cake was to great... Hubby got the pulled pork over creamy polenta. Also GREAT.
We enjoyed the lunch with two original Dr. Peppers - Cane Sugar.
No time for dessert - but all looked great...

        2. Having put on two wedding rehearsal dinners in the past couple of years I can tell you there are not that many places outside of hotels that have private rooms, great atmosphere and great food. For contemporary, I would try Mosaic. They have a wine room that should fit your group. The restaurant is chef owned and can be very contemporary and innovative. The problem is it's in North Scottsdale. Not at all contemporary but should stil be on your short list is Lon's at the Hermosa Inn. They have several private rooms including the library that has a small outdoor patio we used for cocktails before dinner. Lon's is very Arizona although the food by Chef Michael Rusconi can be very contemporary. Finally, it's in a hotel but Royal Palms has some very nice rooms and they do a great job with food. Again, wonderful Arizona atmosphere but cutting edge food. Desserts are outstanding.

          1. The "wine cellar room" at Lon's would work fine for your needs. We've used it for several board dinners and receptions with a few more than your group.
