Eating in North Beach

Any ideas for interesting places/reasonable places for dinner? Will have kids but they eat anything.

I like the roasted chicken at Il Pollaio. Been there with kids, too!

I'm with you on Il Pollaio. I like the rabbit, too, though maybe it's not something you want to eat in front of the kids. Good fries, if you like them big as I do.

I read that Joey and Eddies has Rat Pack and Sinatra solo imitators which could be fun. Fior di Ialia was also mentioned but sounded real expensive. Joe Dimaggio's is fun for families but also not cheap.

The link for Joey & Eddie's has Chowhound reports linked. Nothing I've read about it makes me want to go running over there to throw money at over-priced, medicore Italian food.

We ate at Original US today and it was good once again. Minimal atmosphere/ambiance mixed with "old school" italian and the pasta dishes really rock. Go ahead and split entrees into 2 portions ( they are big) and order an appetizer and some wine and you are good to go. Close your eyes and it tastes like you are back in Rome for a simple Italian meal. I need more places like this right now.....getting tired of the $125 meal for 2 in this city. You can eat here for half that price (includes 1 bottle of wine).

Capps corner old family style italian, Joe and Eddies family style italian, Marios Bohemian Cigar, then of course if your all into garlic you could do the garlicky restaurant.
            All are interesting and reasonable.

I wouldn't consider Mario's a dinner destination, nor of particular interest to kids unless they are primed for a panini.

Stinking Rose, the garlicky restaurant I assume, is part of a chain and I have yet to read anything positive about it. I haven't read a lot postive about Joe and Eddie's either. What dishes would you recommend at either.
