Crystal City dining

  • h

is there anything decent there thats not a national chain? Asian, tapas (I know about Jaleo), seafood, etc.

  1. I'm not that sure of the geogrpahy, but is Hellburger considered Crystal City? If not, it's worth going over the border for.

    1. Very casual and family-friendly but our favorite pizza in the DC metro area is Cafe Pizzaiolo (http://www.cafepizzaiolo.com/).
The sushi at Matsutake is also decent enough.

If you walk west on 23rd St across Rt1 & Eads St, there is a whole block of restaurants, none of which are chains. There's Tex Mex, Thai, Italian, etc. The Thai and Tex Mex are decent, but not stellar. Neramitra on Crystal Drive has decent Thai too. Ted's Montana Grill (also Crystal Drive) is a chain, but makes a nice burger.

People always so good things about the Greek restaurant in that block that's set back from the street scape somewhat. My husband and I like Cucina Vivace with a menu that strives to evoke true Italian cooking.

Athena Pallas is that Greek place, I'd say its my favorite restaurant in CC, you can't beat the combo plate.

      2. Kabob Palace. West side of Rt 1, just South of 23rd. Go to the one with the yellow awning. If you like kabobs, you will be happy.

Search the board for more info. Don't go to the one next door w/o the yellow awning.

        1. I live in crystal city, (Hellburger is rosslyn fyi).

If you want pretty good sushi I would suggest Bonsai Sushi on 23rd Street in the heart of Crystal City. I would say for good bar food head over to Crystal City Sports bar, for good ethnic food head to Kabob Palace and if you want good steak go to Ted Turners.

Also Cafe Piazolla as has been mentioned is a very solid choice.

          1. Definately Kabob palace.... I used to always go there after i finished work at the CCSP, 3 am kabobs? yummy!!
