Anyone been to Sushi King Lately?

daftpunkxl Mar 12, 2009 11:14 AM

I want something in the vein of Hide Sushi tonight, but of course they're closed on Thursdays. Looking for something in the same general area, and Sushi King in Santa Monica came to mind. Haven't been in a long time, but remember it being good. Can anyone attest to the current quality? Or give a counter-recommendation?

If I don't hear anything, we'll probably end up at En Sushi, as it's a block from my house.

Thanks, guys!

I just went to Sushi King and it's still good. My faves are still the yellowtail, albacore, and their green bean salad. Another good westside sushi place is Musha. Their menu a lot more extensive than Sushi King or Hide, but you won't break the bank. Happy eating!

I never really loved the sushi at Musha, but it's definitely good for Izakaya fare. Thanks for the idea!

Hide is not closed on Thursdays as far as I know . I have been eating there for thirty years and the only day they are closed is Mondays . I like Sushi King also , (the owner Saito used to work at Hide.) Their calamari is the best in the city. I have found both places to have very fresh no frills sushi. Sushi King has a larger selection and in season does a fantastic oyster shooter.

imho, sushi king has a wider menu than hide, but if you're used to hide or en sushi or u-zen or k-zo or hamasaku, you will find sushi king fish quality and preparation generally lacking.
