Marietta Georgia - need help
We are going to Marietta Georgia for 6 days to visit my mom. Can anyone recommend any good restaurants. We are adventurous, like ethnic food and we have 2 children so we are not looking for fancy places. Any suggestions? She lives in Indian Hills and I need places that are somewhat close to her house. I saw the thread on Tasty China. We like Bagelicious for Breakfast and the Flying Buiscuit was great. Are they still there? Restaurants seem to come and go there more than where we are from in Pennsylvania. She usually takes us to chain restaurants. I would like to find something else besides Ted's Montana Grill and Longhorne's which are around the corner from her house.
There are several places in the immediate area that I would suggest you try. Cafe de Paris is immediately behind Flying Biscuit. The Catch is on the northeast corner of Lower Roswell Road and Woodlawn. Sam & Dave's BBQ 1 is on Lower Roswell Road east of Johnson Ferry Road - where Lower Roswell narrows to one lane. Those are all within a couple of miles of Indian Hills.
By going just a little further, you have a great many more opportunities. KC Pit BBQ is on Roswell Road just north of Johnson Ferry Road in Sandy Springs. This is not the Roswell Road near Indian Hills. This is the north-south road linking Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Roswell, and Alpharetta. The Brickery is on the east side of Roswell Road (Sandy Springs) just south of Hildebrand.
LaStrada is on Johnson Ferry Road a couple of miles north of Roswell Road in Cobb County. Chicago's is just a couple of blocks beyond LaStrada on Shallowford Road just to the right (east) of Johnson Ferry.
Near the Marietta Square is Nick's Sessions Street Grill (lunch only) on Sessions Street a block west of Church Street (near Kennestone Hospital). On the Square is Efes for Turkish and Greek, Willie Rae's and Sympatico share a kitchen and ownership. Next door (same side of the square as Efes) is Shillings on the Square. Thaicoon is a block from the square and serves Thai, as well as sushi.
I could suggest several more just a little further away from these, but this is a start. If I can help further, please let me know.
Falafel Cafe and Shish Kabob are both awesome Persian restaurants in Marietta. Falafel Cafe has been our favorite in all of Atlanta area for almost a decade now.
Also try Petra right next door to Tasty China for great Mediterranean food. Rodopi is a Bulgarian place, also in Marietta. Tassa Roti Shop for Trinidadian also gets great reviews, but I haven't been yet. Australian Bakery Cafe should be great for pies too.
