Bombay Grocery --ayce lomita (very short review)

westsidegal Mar 11, 2009 06:59 PM

this is a $5 all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet in an indian market.

the price/quality/quantity ratios at Bombay Grocery are astonishingly good.

the food is in the same general league as Samosa House.
imho, Samosa House has somewhat better food, which would be expected because Samosa house also has slightly higher prices. Also, the food at Bombay, across the board, is more oily /fatty than that at Samosa house.

Nevertheless, the food here is better than solid and it's flavorful and, if you're in the area this place is absolutely worth a stop.

Bombay Grocery
2040 Pacific Coast Hwy Lomita CA
(between the two main streets of narbonne and western)

(be aware, for those that care, at this time Bombay Grocery has a B health dept rating. this didn't stop me from going back twice and buying food there to take home. the place looks clean to me)

      gonna cry.
the chef would make me the most delicious curried mustard greens that i've ever tasted.
      what a loss.

actually the place that replaced Bombay Grocery is pretty good as well. The old owner stops by from time to time. Food is somewhat as good, but not the same.. However, I tried the Buffet a few times and I will go back..

Westsidegal.. I like this place allot.. I go there once a week. I find it rather tasty and excellent value for the money. They provide Chai Tea as well as long as you ask.. The people are so nice.. The owner just opened another Location near Crenshaw and Lomita Blvds..

i tried it because of your recommendation!
basically, it's about the best value for the money anywhere in the LA basin.
the other place they opened is geared toward meat options and has a much more limited vegetarian menu, so i'll stick to Bombay Grocery.
