Best wedding food/caterer in the metro DC area?
I am looking for a caterer for wedding food in the DC area (within 2 hours from DC ok as well). Where did you have the best wedding food? It is often said that the food is what the guests most remember, so I'm going to search for the caterer first and then the venue! Any recommendations? Ideally, I'd like to keep the reception related costs under $200 per person (about 175 guests).

You have a good budget. Let me suggest Occasions Caterers. I have attended several events in DC that were catered by Occasions--all beautifully done. But, more importantly, I worked for Occassions for a short time (as a lowly kitchen assistant) and I have to say, they're the best in DC. Total pros--excellent service and creative menus. I'm sure they can work within your budget. Check them out here: http://www.occasionscaterers.com/oc20...

re: tourtière
Do yourself a favor and try Rouge located in Hunt Valley www.rougefinecatering.com They are very accomodating as far as coming up with an excellent menu and the service is top notch. The owner is a real charmer as well. It's worth giving their tasting menu a try!

This is the URL for a forum where people review their wedding vendors. It was really helpful when I planned my reception last September. I used Basikneads and had a good experience.
I got my cake from While Foods in Kentlands Gaithersburg. Mike, the manager, was so nice. It cost $3/serving and they did lots of simple sugar flowers for no extra charge. I also got mini-dessert trays. It was hard for me to find a place who did these. Whole foods did a great job with these too.
