Knoxville to Roanoake

My daughter and I will be driving from Knoxville TN to Roanoake VA on Thursday March 26.

Would really appreciate any recommendations for good chow-places near Route 81.

We are looking for good LOCAL cooking - NO French, Italian, Thai, Sushi etc.
We crave home cookin', b-b-q, Southern, soul food - you get the idea.

Thanks to one and all! Your advice makes road trips infinitely better!

      Abingdon, Va has several good places. You would need to get off I40 and just look on the main street. Also I am curious about The Harvest Table in Meadowview, VA which is just north of Abingdon. It serves local food and is connected to Barbara Kingsolver who wrote a book about her family's experience of eating locally for one year.
