Choose one of three for me...

I have the day off today, and have decided to make it a delicious one.

I have a craving for something warm and delicious (perhaps a bit spicy). I have narrowed it down to 3 choices I have never been to...
-Smokes Poutinerie
-Caplanskys
-PhoHung

Location is all within 10 minutes difference for me so I would like to hear what you would suggest.

I'm most likely going to be alone so I will probably just bring a Magazine along with me.

Cheers, and thanks for your help

Caplansky's... you can kill two birds with one stone since Caplansky's also does a kick-ass poutine (great fries too if you want to keep it light - ha!). Plus, you can have a pint!

agreed. the combo meal at Caplansky's (with poutine, natch) and a black cherry soda'll pretty much put you down for the count but what a tasty way to go...

Caplansky's as well. Great smoked meats. Fries are good too.

yup, i'd go for caplanksy's too. i guess it is unanimous. smoke's is def. the hung-over hangout. not the greatest atmosphere and while i will cop to indulging there a time or two, the gravy is truly sub par (tastes like swiss chalet sauce).

If Smoke's gravy tasted like Swiss Chalet it would be an improvement. Their gravy is terrible though.

On a related note: Swiss Chalet now has Poutine.

I always feel sick after eating at Swiss Chalet, but maybe I'll give it a go to try the poutine. If the curds squeak, it would probably be the best poutine in the GTA...

                  That's pretty much it.

I've only been to Smokes a couple of times but its not THAT bad... When I went shortly after opening , the curds actually had some squeak

I agree, duckdown. Smokes poutine is very good, but many people have an issue with the gravy which is fairly heavy on some herbal flavour (rosemary?). I like it, though.
For this poster (craigger), however, the best all-round food experience is Caplansky's, if you have to choose just one.
