Sababa Grill & Restaurant - Las Vegas, NV

Working in Vegas last week...I hit an old favorite of mine : Sababa Grill & Restaurant.
Owned by Rami Cohen who's falafel restaurant I used to frequent when I lived in the Boston area. (His brother Rafi designed my engagement ring many moons ago prior to my divorce - Rafi is now living in Las Vega too!)

Sababa is a Kosher, Israeli Restaurant with some of the best Falafel and hummous I have had in the southwest.
When you walk in Rami is there w/ a sample of his homemade falafel to whet your appetitie as he guides you through the menu.

For lunch I went w/ the Falafel plate w/ baba ganoush and an Israeli salad w/ a tahini dressing and a warm pita basket. Rami will ask if you want his homeade hot sauce which adds another dimension to the dish. His pickles that accompany every dish are like old home week for me...exactly as I remember them from his Boston locale.

We spent a little time remiscing about the Boston area...he also put his brother Rafi on the telephone to say hello.

It was the most enjoyable luch. I wish I could pack up his falafel and pickles and bring them home with me! I need to frequent Sababa more often as my travels take me to Las Vegas every 6 weeks or so.

  1. Thanks so much for this post. This is high on my list for my next trip. I only wish the website gave a better idea of the menu.

Dave...the menu is almost identical to their restaurant in Boston.
I'm not sure about the prices....
I did find them a tad higher than the usual Middle Eastern restaurant. I'm sure that is due to the fact that they are Kosher.

Oooh, bourekas! Definitely on the list for next time. Thanks, cg.

Good news for you Dave, and for ciaogal too: This place is about two blocks from my new office. I keep meaning to try it, but haven't done so yet. Almost went there today, but I have a cold and a bowl of pho seemed more appropriate. I'll be there soon, and if either you and/or ciaogal show up at noon, I'll be happy to take you.....(Too bad I was out of town most of last time be sure and email, cg!)
