Vegan Friendly in GR/Lansing?

We're taking a daytrip with friends up north of Grand Rapids, coming from the Detroit area later this month. One of the friends is vegan, rest of the group is definitely meat-atarian, one with a shellfish allergy. Any recommendations where we can find yummy food to satisfy all of us? Looks like our route will take us through Lansing, so around there would probably be ok, too...

Thanks in Advance!

  1. Two Lansing-area suggestions:

Traveler's Club International Restaurant and Tuba Museum:

Located in Okemos, just east of East Lansing.

I've been to both the Traveler's Club and Green River and can recommend both highly.

    Green River Cafe

two locations--one in downtown East Lansing, the other at the Lansing Market.

    1. GR has some pretty good options.

Check out te Pita House in Easttown, they're not expensive, and have some pretty good stuff. There's also a mini-mart inside with great deals on tahini and such. http://www.thepitahouse.net/

If you're looking for upscale dining, Bistro Bella Vita is a great choice. Just call ahead to tell the chef you'll need a vegan dish, he'll make you something off-menu and tasty.

If the non-vegans aren't the kind that ALWAYS need meat, Cafe Gaia is a fun vegetarian/vegan place. Last time I stopped by they had a cuban-seasoned grilled tempeh I loved. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=grand+rapids+gaia&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&view=text&latlng=7553559888605518631

There's also Little Africa on Fulton street, the owner can be a little weird sometimes, but the food is tasty. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&...

I've also heard good things about Marie Catrib's, but haven't been yet.
