Drinks and Apps Suggestions?
My Mom and I are celebrating her early retirement (and her general awesomeness) with drinks and apps in NYC. I was thinking of starting at Stanton Social for a couple drinks and plates at the bar. We'd like to do the same thing at a couple of places. Any suggestions for fun bars with great appetizers or small plates? We'd like to walk but if anyone can recommend a great and awesome place a little far we'll definitely make the trip.

Freeman's has great drinks and good shareable plates.
Barrio Chino (great tequila-based drinks and Mexican app's)
Delicatessen (though I've not been, I know they have a shareable menu that's supposed to have gotten better)

The Bar Room at the Modern specializes in small plates and great drinks as does Angel's Share.

I live in the hood and have a good map for you (in my opinoin :))
Since you are starting at Stanton Social -- after drinks and small plates there, head to Ten Bells on Broome. It's small spanish tapas and wine bar. Small dark and cozy. They might still have the $1 freshly shucked oysters going on (think it goes till 9pm) and their serrano ham is delicious.
After Ten Bells walk over to Bacaro. (look it up - i forget exact street but it's headed closer to Chinatown). Bacaro is Venetian tapas. There you can have wine and things like spicy fried meatballs or gnocci with mushrooms. Make sure to sit downstairs in their wine cellar/dungeon like basement -- it's really lovely.
After Ten Bells head to Soho and go to Boqueria. That is also Spanish tapas and it's their new location. The place is pretty and modern looking.
Every single place I've recommended specializes in small plates meant for sharing with wine and are all within walking distance (although Boqueria is the only one outside of the LES/Chinatown area)
