Gelatin leaves in south bay?

Does anyone know a current supplier for gelatin leaves (also called gelatin sheets, like gelatin powder envelopes but in sheet form), preferably in the south bay? Googling for it turned up a thread on here that recommended Draeger's in Menlo Park - I went and the guy said he hasn't had them for years. Sure enough, the thread was from 2006! Do I have to go the online route? Thanks!

  1. I searched for them many years ago, and no one had them: not Draegar's, not Sur La Table, not Viking Home, not any of the cake supplies places. Try posting on the Home Cooking board for recommended mail order vendors.

Le Sanctuaire in San Francisco carries leaf gelatin. Although it is convenient, it isn't necessary for anything. You can always substitute Knorr powered gelatin. Generally, 1 packet (7gm) of powdered gelatin is equivalent to 4 sheets of leaf gelatin.

    2. some of the asian markets carry them too.or at least sheets of agar. MOM (manila oriental mart) on mission street in san francisco has them.

      1. I've found sheet gelatin at Williams-Sonoma (though in the East Bay, not South Bay).
