Bakery in Bay Ridge, BK?

I'd like to send my dear friend, who is a public school school teacher in Bay Ridge, a birthday cake for her birthday. I am in CA and would like to find a "homestyle bakery" in the area. I will arrange to have it delivered to her classroom. She works SO much and this would be such a treat for her and her students. Any suggestions?

  1. There are two bakeries worth a try, one is Your Baker 518 86th St. and the other is Leske's on 5th Ave. around 77th st. Leske's is more of a home style baker, very good black and whites, danish and crumb boards. Your Baker is a more modern bakery but I've never had anything bad from there, good luck.

    1. this may sound crazy, but in some NY schools now, this sort of birthday treat is not permitted due to concerns about liabilities over food allergies, etc. You might want to check ahead of time with the school to avoid disappointment.

      1. Jen has a very good point. . Seems more kids than ever are suffering from food allergies..
If it's something that is allowed, I'd second either of Bonnie's recc. Both Leske's and Your Baker make nice B-Day cakes, though you'll want to order whipped cream as their Buttercream is lethally sweet I think it's really a lovely thought. I'm sure your friend will be delighted! :-}.

        1. Thank you for the feedback. I did call the school and decided to have a cake sent to her. Her school said she may just share it with her fellow teachers. THANKS for much for the recommendations!!!
