Restaurants @ Hilton Head & Savannah
Have been going to HHI for 36 years. Some of our current higher end favorites are as follows;
211 Park in the Park Plaza cewnter just outside the ea Pines Main Gate. Great food with a wine list to match.
Michael Anthony's in Orleans Plaza on New Orleans Rd. Great food (mostly Italian & seafood) and great service.
Red Fish on Palmetto Bay Road. Outstanding food and service. They have a retail wine shop attached where you can purchase wine @ retail for your dinner.
Sunrise Cafe in the Palmetto Bay Marina (under the Cross Island Exp) at the end of Palmetto Bay road is a great local place for breakfast..
British Open Pub in Wexford Shopping center great for lunch or weekend brunch.
Hope you enjoy that special place.
The Sea Shack is a local institution and serves up great local seafood and some yummy sweet potato cornbread. Their she crab soup is to die for and the atmosphere is dive-like yet charming. Here is a post on my blog w/ pics that gives more detail:
I also like Alligator Grille. It's been around for many years and is locally owned. It was orginally in Coligny Plaza but they had a fire and relocated to the Sea Pines shopping center at the Sea Pines gate.
Another must is Flamingo House of Donuts where they make to order donuts with whatever flavors you request. Again, I posted about this on my blog.
Enjoy your trip!
28 year resident of HHI:
Italian: either Il Carpaccio in Pineland Station (north end) or Mulberry Street Trattoria, first left past the Moss Creek light (going outbound).
A little taste of NYC: Wiseguys Lounge near Harris Teeter on Main street (north end).
My current favorite: Riviera Oaks in Orleans Center (south end). Amazing interior and excellent food.
hi im from ohio and when I am in savanah during the week, I go to mrs. wilkes dining room www.mrswilkes.com it is only open weekdays for lunch. It is a family style restaurant serving southern food and we sat at a table of 9 with strangers, you know, and they just kept bringing food bowls and when they were done, there were 24 BOWLS OF FOOD ON THE TABLE! DIFFERENT FOODS IN EACH BOWL! It was recommended in that book 1000 places to see before you die and we are glad we went. Enjoy!
