Sick and in need of Matzoh Ball soup, where to go?

  • v

I have a cold and would love some really good Matzoh Ball soup. What's the best place to go? I'm coming from Brooklyn and was hoping I could find something on the LES, but I'm told that 2nd Ave Deli is now midtown and there is no other good delis down there (how sad, by the way.) So where does one go for authentic, nourishing Matzoh Ball Soup?

  1. Katz's makes matzoh ball soup.

You might as well go to Junior's in Brooklyn if you're going to Katz's. Same stuff, less traveling time.

    2. Try Sarge's Super Soup. It's the best!

Wonton soup works well for me when I am congested

        2. 2nd avenue isn't midtown, but it is in the 30's...still on the East Side, and closer then Sarge's.

Most of the gourmet food markets have pints of the stuff to but.

          1. Sick? Stay home and don't make us all sick for crying out loud! Order in from somewhere in your nabe-period!

            1. I LOVE Junior's if you are willing to travel to Grand Central or hit up the one on Dekalb in Brooklyn.

              1. Wow, I am surprised at your fortitude. Usually when I am sick I just want to stay in bed and I pull out my trusty Campbell's. Or I order delivery, but I live within range of 2nd Ave Deli and Sarge's.

Sarge's has a great Super Soup with matzo ball and 2nd Ave Deli has a great fluffy matzo ball in very restorative consomme. You can't go wrong either place. Get well soon!

This post inspired me to go to Junior's. Incredible.
