I had the Charlotte Russe (the one with the white piece of cardboard that you push up) at the Normandie Bakery in Hazlet, NJ. It's on Route 35 in the ToysRUs strip mall. That was about 5 years ago, so you may want to call and find out if they're still making them. The # is (732)264-1634.

Thank you for the information. I visited Normandie Bakery today. She explained to me that they no longer make a Charlotte Russe because they cannot find or buy the cardboard push up anymore...

You're welcome. They were such a treat when I was growing up in Flatbush.

Gosh I haven't had one of those in over 40 years...there was a bakery in Bensonhurst called Schlemon Deutch (s)..and my mom would always treat me to one. I do recall when Arthur Schwartz was on radio he mentioned a bakery in Coney Island (doesn't help you I know) that was making them but I don't recall the name. Why did this classic treat go away?
