Almacen del Sur - Mendoza Argentina

Hired bikes from Bikes and Wine today and road to a few wineries en route to a lunch reservation at Almacen del Sur. We arrived at the closed gate, gave our name, and were escorted to a table in the garden. Because we were on bikes, we were offered the "Bikes and Wine" menu or the tasting menu for two. We opted for the tasting menu, and were very happy with our choice!

We ordered Clos de los Siete, a blend by Michel Rolland - quite nice and a good deal. We were offered a selection of the establishments prepared spreads and roasted vegetables (fire roasted eggplant, marinated tomatoes, grilled zucchini, sun dried tomato) and sour cream to cleanse the palate. Lunch consisted of 7 dishes, all featuring the products of Almacen del Sur. It included a lovely pork rib with green tomato chutney, langostino with garlic sprouts, croquetes, chicken wings with lemon cream, a lamb with mint and eggplant dish, and a stuffed pepper with hake brandade. All were quite lovely, and the setting was great as well.

Highly recommend this stop, especially considering it was $85 pesos per person, which is not bad considering the quality of the food.

Enjoy!
