A good friend repeatedly insisted on getting hot dogs at this place. I am so used to lame dogs that every time she ate one and I watched.

Finally today I knuckled under... doggonit really excellent hot dogs with superb toppings.

Choice of kosher, natural casing, or angus beef dogs. Amazing Italian sausages to.

Butter toasted buns.

The dogs are perfectly cooked with a nice natural casing snap.

All sorts of elaborate dog combinations and though I am usually a bit of a purist, they are amazing.

I had the texas dog, my DC had the Reuben.

The toppings are where this place really, really shines:

He makes an awesome onion relish, homemade cole slaw, home made chili, salsa, and he is starting to ferment his own sauer kraut.

This guy takes his Chow VERY seriously and obviously puts his heart into it!

Speeds is certainly awesome, but this is amongst the best hot dog places I have ever hit in NYC, Chicago, anywhere including my usual favorite Gray's Papaya in NYC.

I absolutely agree - this was an unexpected and pleasant surprise to me and is a spot for serious hot dog enjoyment - each one is very carefully prepared and the toppings are excellent. I loved the Chicago dog!

Will second the positives here. This place seems to fly under the radar, but I like it as much as similar and seemingly better known places such as Top Dog in Rockport and Popo's in Swampscott. All are excellent spots to munch down a frank on the North Shore.

Hi SG,
I think it's Kayem, if my memory's correct, but I wouldn't swear to it. Thanks for doing an OP on this place. It's long over-due for Boston Hot Dog to get it's own thread on Chowhound. I'm also with you on the mighty Texas Dog or dogs, at least in my case.
